St Olaves Estate were named as “dockers ideal dwellings” there construction started just before and after WW2, some were bombed during the blitz and were rebuilt when the war was over.
They are unique to Bermondsey and were built around the dock areas. Dr Alfred Salter (MP and great supporter of social change) was instrumental of their creation.
