Local charities and volunteers have come together to launch a free Camberwell Community Xmas event for all ages on Camberwell Green on Saturday 9 December, 11am-2pm.

SE5 Forum for Camberwell, Spring Community Hub, Theatre Peckham, Camberwell Arts and Amuru children’s charity are bringing this free community festive event to the Green, thanks to funding from United St Saviours charity.

The Camberwell Community Xmas celebrations kick off with Mr and Mrs Santa, along with characters from Theatre Peckham’s highly anticipated Xmas show Rapunzel – they will be touring local estates on a reindeer cargo bike ‘sleigh’ and giving out satsumas to local children on their way to the green. Santa’s reindeer will be pedaling a bike from Camberwell company Pedal Me.

Camberwell Community Xmas aims to bring Camberwell’s diverse communities together on the Green for Christmas fun but also help with the cost of living. This free event for all will offer:

  • A free warming Caribbean lunch for all
  • Free Activities for Kids – hi-energy games, making Christmas treats, badges and decorations, face painting
  • Mr & Mrs Santa in the grotto with a free stocking filler
  • Crafty Older People arts & crafts
  • No cook/low cook recipes and advice on food charities
  • Community Stalls with welfare, warm spaces, and cost of living information and advice
  • Hygiene products, warm clothes and food to give away.
  • Partnership Southwark’s Wellbeing Van offering NHS physical and mental health advice, information and services
  • Free festive choirs & music
